CHAPTER 51
Devyani gets married to Rajiv
Grand marriage took place in the temple.
The 1st night was spent in Shivayya’s house.
Shivayya, Laxmi and Shastri went in car with the newly
wed couple to the city. They entered the house. It was a 2 bedroom house with fridge,
TV and all other luxuries. They all stayed together for 4 days.
On the 5th day, Shivayya, Laxmi and Shastri
prepared to leave.
Devyani said happily, “It would have been nice if you
all stay for 4 days more.”
Laxmi said, “True. We too feel like staying on. No
problem. We will come again. You keep phoning.”
Shivayya had tears in his eyes. “Since last 10 years I
have been seeing you before going to job. Now you have become a girl of another
house. But we only wish you to be happy. Keep phoning.”
Devyani hugged her father. He caressed her head.
Shastri said, “I am so happy to see you in such a good
house.”
He looked at her husband.
Shastri Such a godly boy. His parents were like your
own parents.
The boy’s father appeared. “You don’t worry. She is
like our daughter. We will also be leaving for Nagpur tomorrow. I am working in
private firm there.”

One
month passed. Daily
Devyani phoned to Laxmi and Shivayya.
One day Devyani said, “Aunty, I am coming home
tomorrow. Rajiv has got a job in Delhi. We want to meet you before leaving.”
Laxmi was very happy. “Very good.”

Devyani and Rajiv came to Shastri’s house by auto.
Shastri was very happy to see them. “Come in.”
They kept the suitcases inside and sat down. Devyani brought
water for Rajiv.
Shastri said, “I have prepared lunch already for you
both. You can wash your hands and legs and have lunch.’
Devyani was shocked. “Why appa? I would have prepared
it.”
Shastri smiled. “No problem. I am used to cooking. I
was doing it while you were small.”
In the evening Shivayya and Laxmi came to meet Devyani
and Rajiv.
Shivayya looked at Devyani from top to bottom. “How are
you, my dear?”
Devyani smiled. “I am fine, uncle.”
“We missed you so much.”
Laxmi said, “He used to see your face daily and have
coffee before going to work. Nowadays also he came to your house and has coffee
prepared by your father. Then he looks at your photo before leaving for work.”
Devyani laughed.
Shivayya said, “You are like my 2nd life.
Like my daughter.”
He looked at Rajiv. “How are you, my boy?”
Rajiv smiled. “I am fine. I have been transferred to
Delhi. We will be shifting soon. Then we can come here only once a year.”
Shivayya was surprised. “When are you leaving?”
“In two or three day’s time.”
“Our girl is lucky. You keep calling regularly.”
Rajiv smiled. “Sure.”

Devyani and Rajiv were ready to go back to their house
in the city.
Shivayya said, “I will drop them at the bus stop.”
Devyani and Rajiv climbed into the jeep.
Shastri said, “Keep writing letter, my dear.”
Devyani nodded. “Sure. Bye.”
Laxmi and Shastri waved to them as they left.
