CHAPTER 39
Shivayya’s attachment for Devyani
Shivayya went to Shastri’s house early in
the morning. Devyani was putting rangoli in front of the house. She took
Shivayya’s hand and they entered the house. Shastri was getting ready to go to
the temple.
Shastri saw Shivayya and Devyani. “I was waiting for you.”
Devyani brought
coffee for Shivayya. “Since 4 or 5 days all TV channels are talking only about you.”
Shivayya laughed. “That is why I see your face and
then only start my work. You bring good luck to me.”
Devyani was shy. “Whenever
you come to my house, I pray to god for all your jobs to be a success.”
He looked at her in surprise.
Devyani placed her hand on his head. “Promise, uncle.”
Shivayya had tears in his eyes. “In my next life, I
want you to be my mother or my daughter.”
He got up to go. “What to do? I am so busy nowadays. I
have to go to the city today.”
Swami watched him leave.

Venkatraidu got a phone call.
One man phoned from the bus stop. “Brother, that MPP
blacksmith Krishnappa has climbed the last bus. We have a good chance now.”
Venkatraidu said, “I will be waiting at the bus stop
for him.”
The bus entered the village. People got down at
various stops. Finally only Krishnappa was left in the bus. The bus reached the
last stop.
Driver asked, “Why Krishnappa? How come you are so
late today?”
Krishnappa said, “I had gone to a marriage.”
Krishnappa was walking alone on the road. He suddenly
saw Venkatraidu and 4 men come with machu. Krishnappa was scared and ran back
towards the bus. The men followed. Driver saw them and was scared. Krishnappa
climbed into the bus. The men followed him and cut him into pieces. They looked
at the shivering driver and conductor.
One man warned, “If you tell anyone about the
incident, you both will also go up.”
The men washed the machus at the bore well. One man brought
a jeep. They all left.

Shivayya got a phone call that MPP
Krishnappa had been murdered. Shivayya took the jeep and went to the village.
The police were already there.
Driver said, “This is the job of Venkatraidu. I saw it
with my own eyes.”
Shivayya asked, “Are you ready to give witness?”
Driver nodded. “Yes.”
Shivayya took the dead body to Shivaram’s house.
The police tried to argue with Shivayya. “1st
the body has to go for post-mortem.”
Shivayya shook his head. “No. 1st let us
find that Venkatraidu who did it.”

TV crew interview Shivaram who was in the
city.
Shivaram said, “It is 3 days since my brother came to
Hyderabad. Just because a driver said so, we can’t believe it. That Shivayya is
going to the extreme.”
