Couple commit suicide

Ramana’s jeep stopped outside the office. At the same time Oblesh’s jeep stopped outside Ramana’s house.

Ramana entered his office. Oblesh and his men entered Ramana’s compound. They knocked on the door. Ramana’s wife opened the door.

Immediately one man pushed the door and entered the house. She shouted. He put his hand over her nose. She closed her eyes and became unconscious. The men carried her out of the compound and put her in the jeep.

Neighbours saw the scene. But they put their hand on their mouth. They knew all about Oblesh and his men. Nobody dared to stop them.

One lady said, “She is finished.”

At the same time, in the office, Ramana scolded the manager left and right. “How did you give the files to that badmash? I will suspend you.”

Manager said, “I am telling for your own good sir. Please understand this area. This is fraction area. We are all going in their line. That is why we are still alive. If we miss the line, we will be dead.”

At one o’clock Ramana reached his house. The main door was opened. He looked around. His wife was no where to be seen. He felt scared. He came to the compound.

From the neighbouring window, one lady looked out. “As soon as you left, that Oblesh took away your wife.”

Ramana shivered. He went to the police station and told the circle inspector all that had happened. “Sir, please save my wife.”

CI said, “Sir, this is fraction area. Their word is the law. I don’t know who transferred a man like you to this area. Even if you give a complaint, we cannot do anything. It is better for you to do what they want and ask them to leave your wife.”

Ramana was shocked. He went to the DSP.

DSP listened to Ramana and then said, “Please forgive me. You better sign those files and give it to him. Then you put one week leave and go away with your wife. Your life will be spared.”

Ramana went home. It was already 7pm. He felt helpless. He signed the files and took them to Naga’s house.

Ramana looked at the watchman. “I want to meet Oblesh.”

Watchman said, “He is busy in the guest house. A party is going on.”

Ramana was shocked. “Please tell him that the executive engineer has come. Tell him that I have brought the file.”

Oblesh’s mother came out of the house and said, “If you had done this job before itself it would have been very good.”

She looked at a worker. “Take the files and put them on Oblesh’s table.”

Ramana folded his hands. “My wife? Please send her.”

Oblesh’s mother said, “He will leave her by himself. Party is going on. You wait here.”

Ramana sat down under a tree with his hands on his head. At night 2 o’clock a jeep arrived. Ramana opened his eyes and got up. The jeep stopped near him.

Drunken Oblesh looked at Ramana. “She is sitting in the back. Take her.”

Ramana went to the back of the jeep. Two men made his wife get down from the jeep. Seeing Ramana, his wife closed her eyes and started crying loudly. He tried to touch her but did not dare. He too started crying. He started walking down the road. She followed him crying bitterly.

Next morning people walking on the road saw two bodies hanging from the road side tree near Oblesh’s house. They were shocked and informed the police. The news appears in the paper.

The paper mentioned that they had committed suicide since they did not have any children.

Shivayya watched TV news. Suddenly his cell rang.

One man said on phone, “Brother, that executive engineer and his wife committed suicide due to some other reason. I live next to them. My wife saw Oblesh took his wife away.”

Shivayya was shocked. He got up and took his jeep. He went to the spot. Police was investigating the matter.

Seeing Shivayya, Naga’s men were shocked.

Shivayya approached the CI. “What statement are you writing?”

CI said, “Sir, this is a suicide case. They did not have any children so they have committed suicide. See. They have even written a suicide note.”

He showed a letter.

Shivayya said, “No. This is a murder case.”

He pointed to Naga’s house. “They are the cause for all this. If you don’t arrest the culprits, I will not leave them.”

Shivayya sat in his jeep and left.

Naga’s men informed Naga.

Naga looked at Oblesh and said, “Eh! Oblesh. You don’t stay here. Somebody has told him everything. He will not leave you alive. You go to my father’s house in Hyderabad. You will be safe there.”

Oblesh nodded his head.
